Special collections, media archives, and rare book collections are often underutilized resources that offer a place for a very pointed and pleasurable dérive. Public libraries and some universities have free, publicly accessible book collections (from artist books to any of your niche interests). Visiting these lithographs of Moths from the 1880s made my week. Planning which works you will visit and talking with often very generous librarians is also half the fun.
